What is a thesis paper?
The thesis paper should have information of your ideas which you think is true and that should help other people. You have to write a concise and clear thesis paper in order to express your thoughts, which should be more of your own knowledge.
Before start writing you should frame a thesis statement which helps you to organize your thoughts and help to frame it. The thesis statement you create should justify the significance of your writing. Thesis statement could be of one sentence or more sentences; it depends on the content of your research. It can also have sub sections, if you want to express your ideas in detail.
How to Write a Thesis Paper
Usually a conventional thesis has five chapters which is explained detail in further sections. But we cannot comprise a whole thesis into sections or chapters. In some cases the thesis chapters may extend up to seven or eight chapters. If you write thesis for PhD then it will have more than five chapters. The number of chapter your thesis should hold will be determined by your institution guidelines or supervisors’ choice or researchers’ choice or the level of your education.

The Introduction:
It is the foremost section of a thesis. The introduction part tells the current trends and researches happening in that particular field. It also talk about the impact of this research on the society also the pros and cons of it. This part also has the thesis statement which will talk about the problem addressed by your research and what are all the consequences the society face because of it. At the end of problem statement, it will lead to the creation of research question for which the research you conducted will answer by achieving the goal of research.
The next part of introduction is the research objective. The objective of your research converts the research statement into research question. Then the introduction part can also discuss about the research hypothesis, importance of the investigation, delimitations or methodology and structure of your study. The body of thesis includes sections such as literature review, method of approach, research findings, result discussion, conclusion, citation, references and finally appendices section.
The Literature Review:
It is the vast process in thesis writing because it involves reviewing of literature in theoretical and past empirical area to solve the problem addressed. This section have information like the identified data related to the problem, the comparison between similar studies related to the problem, also about the way of approach to solve the problem and the theoretical frameworks it uses. . To get a clear idea of the problem you identified ensure the validity of your study also check your research findings. This section also discusses about the gaps identified from existing literature and your findings help to overcome from it.
The sources which helped you to collect information by conducting literature review should be given appropriate credits. The author who gave the original content should be mentioned either in starting, in between or at the end of the literature. You should discuss about that content rather than just stating it.
The Methodology:
Discussing about the methodology you opted for your study is considered as the third chapter of the thesis. This section includes discussion on research design, research area, the sample you collected for study also the sampling procedure and the population. Discussion should be done on the basis of method, rationale and choice. The collection and analysis for data, the validity your study holds these are the sub-sections which can also be discussed in this section. The collected data can either be secondary or the primary data. Whenever you are analyzing a data, use statistical tool such as “chi square”, “analysis of variance (ANOVA)” or “spearman rank order correlation” to remain focused on the objective of thesis.
The Findings and discussion of Result:
This is the fourth chapter in thesis writing where it talks about the research result. In research paper the discussion section includes the analysis and discussion of the result of your investigation. The discussion can be based on already existing literature and it should talk about the result you found in a wide range. This section discusses about your research findings on the basis of tool used in data collection and also the goal of your study. The complete research will be explained in this section. Discussion of the result after collection and complete analysis of data is done and also how that result can solve the research problem.
Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation:
This section gives a brief summary of the whole research process; the conclusion came from the research findings after complete analysis of it. In the conclusion section you have to re frame your thesis introduction and use here, in this section the author can also give some recommendations related to policy if wanted. Also the future scopes of this research can be discussed.
References for Thesis:
You have to give credit to the original author and source from where you collected particular information for your thesis. Give credits for those concepts, data, text and ideas which do not come from your own knowledge. Citation has various styles, even the citation for single author differs from citation of multiple authors for same article.
The Appendices for Thesis Paper:
This section includes information from appendix. It has data of calculations and tables, details of complex procedures, references of materials or the list of equipment used in the project. If you have not cited all of the sources in reference section which is used by you, because of long list; you can add that here in this appendices section. It can also have details such as questionnaire, tables, charts and interview schedule, but the reference section have list of contemporary and academic citation, and table of all literatures.
Hints for Writing a Thesis Paper:

- You have to deliver your content in a concise and clear way in order to provide the readers, a complete understanding of the topic.
- Avoid using jargon or technical words or any complicated language to give a proper understanding about the topic. If there is a need of such words, use them in proper place with appropriate definition to avoid confusion.
- Don’t use repeat contents which are taken from different sources in the body section, you can add new extra data other than the already used one to fill the section and to support your statement.
- You just need to provide evidence for your statement; you no need to prove those. It is enough to provide only with the evidence which supports your research. You can make use of statistics or quotes which you think can support your statement.
